The National Student Survey
The National Student Survey (NSS) has been running annually since 2005. It is a survey of mostly final year undergraduates, with the main purpose to help inform the choices of prospective higher education students about where and what to study. Participating institutions and students’ unions can also make use of the data to improve the student learning experience.
The survey is conducted across all publicly funded higher education institutions in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and some institutions in Scotland; some privately funded higher education institutions; and all further education colleges in England that offer HEFCE-funded provision within the scope of the survey. It is commissioned by the
Higher
Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) on behalf of the
Higher
Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) and the
Department
for Employment and Learning, Northern Ireland (DELNI). Ipsos MORI, an
independent market research agency, administers the survey.
